Dr. Chia-Lin Yang, lauded for her “touch of poetry that eludes so many pianists,” is a distinguished performer and educator. A recipient of the Hellen von Ammon Fund for Emerging Artists and the Doug Davis Composition and Performance Award, she has toured extensively across the U.S., Canada, and Taiwan. Her accolades include top prizes at the Seattle International and Kingsville Competitions, with appearances at Benaroya Hall, the Banff Centre, and broadcasts on WQXR. She has also premiered works by composer Matthew Schumaker, contributing to the advancement of contemporary music. A passionate chamber musician, she co-founded the Verve Trio, the Gold Prize winner at the 2022 Amadeus International Music Awards, recognized for their innovative programming and musical finesse. Dr. Yang holds Master’s and Doctorate degrees from Indiana University, where she studied under André Watts and Evelyne Brancart. She currently teaches at UC Santa Cruz and the San Francisco Conservatory of Music, where her students regularly earn top honors and festival invitations
